I'm Kevin Leitão

I launched Leitão Law LLC in 2017 to provide clients with legal and risk management advice that draws on my 30+ years as a lawyer and senior compliance and risk management leader.

Having served in a variety of in-house roles and always looking for new challenges enables me to provide practical and actionable advice. The most effective legal advice empowers clients to make risk-based decisions and develop risk-based controls to manage their legal and regulatory risks.

A little more information

Beginning with my initial law firm training, I have always been a hybrid lawyer – working with clients seeking advice at the intersection of corporate and regulatory requirements. I have enjoyed helping clients with corporate transactions, commercial and consumer agreements and vendor contracts that require regulatory knowledge.

In my roles as in-house counsel, compliance leader and enterprise security leader, I have designed, implemented and supported risk-based compliance, data-security, privacy, anti-money laundering and third-party management programs for large, medium-sized and small companies for over 20 years.

My current practice uses the skills and training from my corporate, regulatory and risk management roles. Reflecting the varied nature of my in-house roles and my private practice clients, I enjoy working with clients ranging from tech startups to small banks and large companies with highly matrixed organizations.

As counsel to your company, I will bring my ‘in-house mindset’ and practical experience to my work. I always work collaboratively with your internal stakeholders and external advisors. Having served in many different roles, I understand how to collaborate to achieve the best outcome.
